SIDING

Siding plays a very important role in the architecture of a house. It holds the different external elements of a house together. It also defends the house from damaging weather conditions like hail storms, torrents and hard sun light.

Types of siding are many but there are a few things to be considered before selecting a siding. For instance, you have to know that the requirements of maintenance, cost and durability are some of the main factors. It is also advisable to compare guarantees and warrantees before you select a siding.

Wood Siding

Wood siding is commonly made from cedar or redwood, though some varieties can be made using pine, oak or other types of wood. This product offers a rich natural beauty and a naturally high level of insulation. It is also strong and long-lasting. Wood siding tends to require a high level of maintenance to protect against rot, moisture problems and insects. It needs to be repainted or resealed annually, and may not be the best choice for very wet or humid areas.

Aluminum and Vinyl Siding

Aluminum and vinyl siding are fairly similar in appearance, and both are a low- to mid-range option as far as price. They are easy to install, require little maintenance and are resistant to wind and moisture. Neither of these materials offers much in the way of insulation, however, and both are susceptible to wind damage or sharp impacts. Vinyl has an integral coloring that eliminates the need for painting, but can become brittle and crack in very cold temperatures. Aluminum is usually painted and requires repainting every few years to maintain its appearance.
